Acoustica Basic Edition is the free version of the powerful and comprehensive audio editing, recording, and mastering Acoustica application. As it’s the free edition, Acoustica Basic also comes with a lot less features and functions than the Standard and Premium editions do. Anyway, this free edition of Acoustica is still a pretty handy tool especially for basic audio editing and management tasks.
One of the most remarkable capabilities of this free Acoustica edition is the support for recording the sound from various sources. This neat application allows creating recordings from sources like the stream of a connected microphone or the playback of an external broadcast. As for the editing operations, all the basic ones are supported, including cutting, copying, pasting, deleting, or inserting silence. The number of effects that can be added to the processed track is a lot much smaller than as offered by other similar applications. You can only apply an echo effect and a convolution reverb to a portion of the track, or reverse it. The volume can be normalized or adjusted to your liking, while fading tweaks can also be applied to the loaded track. As for filters, other than a “phono filter” (a RIAA equalization low-pass filter), there are no other ones.
As you can see, this tool is a pretty stripped-down version of any decent audio processing and editing application, but it’s still quite handy especially in the hands of those looking for simplicity and needing only to perform basic audio management tasks.
